Election Day: My Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:
As a mother, breast cancer advocate and women's studies minor, I am tired of the wrong "facts" (lies) being used to scare women this election season. Mitt Romney does care about women's rights and yes, he supports abortion in cases of rape, incest or when a mother's health is in question. But the truth, however, is that Romney's focus is not to strip women of their rights (which is what the Obama campaign wants you to believe). Rather, Romney's focus is to get women (and men) back to work, to get America's economy going again and to create a nation that is United, not divided, which seems to be our current state today. As an Olympic household, we know first-hand how Romney saved the Olympics and if you look at his record (and can see through main-stream media's glaringly biased spin on all things political), you too might decide that he is a man of integrity, a man who has always given to those in need and is a man who actually does what he says. The one thing I will fault him on, however, is the fact that he did not take Obama to task with regards to Benghazi, a terrorist attack resulting in the deaths of four innocent Americans which could have prevented by our current leader. But Romney, as he often does, choose to rise above the fray and not get caught up in the mud slinging which has been the so prevalent under the current administration. Perhaps if Obama had spent more time working and less time campaigning over the last four years, America would be in a better place today, but he chose popularity over his job duties as President and it has cost us. If I don't perform at my job, I'll get fired, and our elected officials work for us and are no different. Mitt Romney is qualified, proven and ready to work hard for us, and we deserve that!
